Europe's Digital Rules: Why We're Engaged

OLX Group CEO Christian Gisy participated in the European Tech Alliance CEO Forum in Brussels last week. The two-day event brought together  C-level leaders from twenty European tech companies with key EU decision-makers, including European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen, and Commissioners Valdis Dombrovskis, Wopke Hoekstra, and Michael McGrath.

The EU is establishing regulations for digital business over the next decade, covering AI, platform liability, and digital services. These policies will determine how European tech companies invest, innovate, and serve consumers.

OLX operates a European classifieds platform for buying and selling cars, homes, jobs, and secondhand goods. Europe’s digital sector includes companies of varying scales and business models. Effective regulation requires proportionate rules that recognize this diversity without creating barriers to fair competition and growth.

Europe possesses the talent and scale to compete globally. Success requires a regulatory framework that enables European companies to compete fairly and grow.

The regulatory landscape for European digital markets is being defined now. OLX participates in policy discussions to represent its users and contribute to a sustainable digital ecosystem. European tech companies have both the expertise and legitimacy to inform these decisions.

OLX will continue active engagement with policymakers in Brussels and across Europe.
