Coding dreams into reality: Empowering tomorrow’s tech leaders
In a world where technology shapes every aspect of our future, one question stands paramount: How do we ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to be part of this digital revolution?
Addressing market gaps through strategic research
Our research-driven approach involved extensive consultation with property seekers, realtors, and property owners to understand accessibility barriers. The findings revealed critical market gaps: 51% of realtors identified lack of experience and knowledge as the main communication barrier, while 70% had never worked with clients with disabilities. Despite this, 53% reported increased inquiries from people with disabilities since the full-scale invasion, highlighting growing market demand.
Partnership-driven solutions and concrete outcomes
Working in strategic partnership with Superhumans and Dostupno, we developed two key solutions. The “Barrier-Free Communication Guide for Realtors” addresses common myths—such as assumptions about financial reliability—and provides practical communication strategies including person-first language and accessibility detail sharing in property listings.
The challenge that sparked change
Last year, we launched the Prometheus Project – Programmers for Children, an innovative educational initiative where OLXers volunteer their time to teach programming skills to children in care facilities across Poland. This program addresses the critical skills gap in our rapidly growing IT sector, while providing equal access to modern technological education for children from less privileged backgrounds.
Building more than just apps – building futures
Our initiative directly tackles a significant challenge in Poland’s tech ecosystem: ensuring diverse talent pipelines while addressing educational inequalities. Children from care and education centers often lack access to modern technological education despite showing strong potential and curiosity about technology. The Prometheus project represents our strategic commitment to fostering inclusive innovation and developing future IT sector talent through the power of volunteerism and community engagement.
From pilot to promise: the Rzeszów beginning
Our first series of classes took place in Rzeszów, where kids from local Care and Education Centers had the chance to explore hybrid mobile apps written in Flutter. This pilot program brings together children aged 10-16 for comprehensive mobile app development training, with our dedicated OLXer volunteers serving as mentors and guides.
Program structure and measurable impact
The workshops provide access to modern development tools and resources typically available only in professional environments. Our structured approach directly improves participants’ prospects for future employment in the IT sector while building essential problem-solving skills that extend far beyond coding.
Early results from our Rzeszów pilot demonstrate significant engagement and skill development: participants progress from basic programming concepts to creating functional mobile applications, with many expressing newfound interest in technology careers. The program not only teaches technical skills but also builds confidence and creativity among participants.
Our commitment to inclusive innovation
This pilot is only the beginning. By sharing knowledge and creating opportunities through the Prometheus Project, we’re helping to build skills that can shape brighter futures. The initiative aligns with our broader environmental and social responsibility goals, supporting the development of Poland’s tech ecosystem while promoting inclusivity.
